Arriving at Miami International Airport (MIA)

The Deauville Resort Hotel is approximately 20 minutes from the airport. The easiest way to get to the hotel is with the SuperShuttle vans, which charge $15 per person. SuperShuttle vans can be found on the ground level of the terminal building, outside the baggage claim area. These vans are blue with yellow lettering. Reservations are not needed for SuperShuttle originating at MIA. The telephone number for SuperShuttle is (800) 874-8885. A taxi may be worthwhile for small groups traveling together.

Miami Attractions and Information

Greater Miami Visitors Bureau (http://www.gmcvb.com/Index.asp) – a very good website that will list attractions, beaches, and other relevant information. Some worthwhile sights near the hotel are: South Beach Art Deco district between 5th Street and 20th Street where you can find many restaurants, shops, and distinctive art deco architecture. There is also the Parrot Jungle (http://www.parrotjungle.com) on the causeway going to Miami Beach, which has beautiful gardens, parrots, and animal shows. Within easy driving distance are the Miami-Metro Zoo (great for children), Everglades National Park, Vizcaya (a mansion on the water open for tours), and the Venetian Pool. In Biscayne National Park in Homestead you can take snorkel or glass bottom boat trips over the coral reefs. Snorkling is also available at John Pennecamp Park in Key Largo, approximately 1-hour south of Miami Beach.

Currency Exchange

Available in MIA are currency exchange booths. Additionally, there is a bank in Concourse C that operates an ATM.

Car Rentals

If you plan on staying with Miami Beach only then it is probably better not to rent a car. Parking in Miami Beach is difficult and will cost anywhere from $12/day and up. From the hotel many restaurants and shopping is within walking distance. The South Beach art deco district is between 5th and 20th streets is a short taxi ride. If you plan to visit places in South Florida then you will probably need to rent a car since there is very little public transportation.

Miami International Airport provides easy access to numerous On-Airport and Off-Airport car rental companies. The On-Airport car rental companies have registration counters inside the baggage claim area on the first level of the terminal. Vehicle pick-up for all companies is off-site, accessible by courtesy shuttle van.

Car Rental Companies at MIA are:

Avis Rent-A-Car
Budget Rent A Car
Dollar
HERTZ Corporation
National Car Rental
Payless Car Rental
Royal Rent A Car
