The Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence (AEPIA) was established in 1983 to encourage and promote the development of Artificial Intelligence in both the Spanish and the Latin American context. AEPIA is a non-profit organization formed by tenured and institutional partners. It is a member of ECCAI (European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence) , founding member of the Spanish Confederation of Scientific Unions (COSCE) and founding member of IBERAMIA ( Ibero-American Conference on Artificial Intelligence ). AEPIA biennially organizes CAEPIA, the international Conference of the Association, along with Technology Transfer Days in alternate years, and co-organizes IBERAMIA , the Ibero-American Conference on Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with other associations from different Latin American countries. AEPIA also sponsors the Spanish Conference on Informatics (CEDI) , since its first edition in 2005. In 2013, for the first time, AEPIA will organize EVIA, the Summer School in Artificial Intelligence. Among the purposes of AEPIA are the creation and coordination of working groups, the support of technology transfer, supporting institutions (Universities, R&D+i , enterprises , institutions, etc.) in order to facilitate innovation and application of the techniques and applications of artificial intelligence, to support and provide a discussion forum for researchers and students in their Artificial Intelligence related activities, from the aspects of scientific and technological research, development, application and teaching.
