The Doctoral Consortium will take place in conjunction with the 7th International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems (ICEIS), to be held May 24-28 in Miami. The Doctoral Consortium is partially supported by the National Science Foundation. The ICEIS'05 doctoral consortium will provide an opportunity for graduate students to explore their research interests in an interdisciplinary workshop, under the guidance of a panel of distinguished experts in the field.

The Doctoral Consortium on Enterprise Systems Engineering is intended to bring together Ph.D. students within the enterprise systems engineering field to discuss their research in an international forum.
The Doctoral Consortium will provide students with an opportunity to:

• Present their research work in a relaxed and supportive environment
• Receive feedback and suggestions from peers and experienced faculty
• Gain an overview of the breadth and depth of enterprise systems research
• Obtain insight into directions for enterprise systems research taken by other doctoral candidates
• Discuss concerns about research, supervision, the job market, and other issues
• Network with peers and future colleagues

In addition the faculty panel will give some talks helping students to deal with topics such as how to write a Ph.D. thesis and how to make good presentations.

Thus, the symposium will help shape ongoing and future research projects aimed at enterprise systems, will promote scholarship and networking among new researchers in this emerging interdisciplinary area, and will expose these promising young researchers to the larger global community.

Banquet:

Participants in the Doctoral Consortium will attend (included in registration) the Doctoral Banquet.

Location and Date

The doctoral consortium will be held on May 24th in the Deauville Hotel.

Application Process

Doctoral Students from US Universities

If you are a doctoral student at a US university you are eligible to apply for a scholarship from the NSF to attend. The NSF scholarship will pay travel, hotel, and conference registration fees. To apply for this scholarship you must: 1. Complete scholarship application form 2. Submit or have submitted a faculty nomination 3. Submit an abstract

All materials should be sent to Dr. Ronald Giachetti at giachetr@fiu.edu by March 15, 2005 for full consideration.

Faculty Nomination Letter

The faculty nomination letter must include two key items. First, a description of the student's intended research area and probable research methodology. Second, an assessment of the candidate's chances of completing his/her dissertation and successfully participating in the job market during the Fall 2005/Spring 2006 school year. Because the Consortium will have a size limitation, participants described as being likely to complete their dissertations by the end of fall 2005 will be given preference over students described as being unlikely to complete their dissertation. The letter should be e-mailed by the nominating faculty as an attachment directly to Dr. Ronald Giachetti at giachetr@fiu.edu.

Doctoral Students from outside of US

1. Complete an application form 2. Submit an extended abstract of your work.

Each application must include the following:

Extended Abstract Submission

Students must submit an extended abstract describing their dissertation as an e-mail attachment directly to Dr. Ronald Giachetti at giachetr@fiu.edu. The abstract should be no longer than SEVEN pages (approximately 3,500 words) including all text, references, figures, and tables. ** NOTE – if you already submitted an article to the conference that was accepted then that article may serve as your paper for the Doctoral Consortium.

All materials should be sent to Dr. Ronald Giachetti at giachetr@fiu.edu by March 15, 2005 for full consideration.

Fees

Doctoral Consortium Workshop (includes Dinner) $220 US.
