Take the N-IV (Andalucía road) until Puerto Lápice (km. 140.7). From there, go on for the N-420 till Ciudad Real. The duration of the trip is 2 hours and 15 minutes aproximately.

Alicante - Ciudad Real (see map)

Leave Alicante and join the N-330 direction towards Albacete going through Rebolledo, Monforte del Cid, Novelda, Petrer and Villena. Then leave the N-330 and join the N-430 direction towards Albacete going through Almansa, Bonete and Chinchilla de Monte Aragón until Albacete, once there, join the N-430 direction towards Ciudad Real going through Barrax, Ossa de Montiel, La Solana, Manzanares, Daimiel till Ciudad Real.
