Workshop Background and Goals
Wireless computing is an emerging field that promises new approaches to
developing information systems that offer benefits related to flexibility
of distribution, costs, and mobility. This emerging field poses new
challenges to the research community such as faster time-to-market,
quality of wireless information, security concerns, and others.
This workshop will serve as a forum for researchers and practitioners
to meet and share expertise in this emerging field.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to
- Tools for wireless information systems
- Databases for wireless information systems
- Design techniques for wireless information systems
- Applications for the mobile enterprise
- Agents for wireless information systems
- Wireless information quality, privacy, and security
- Wireless information architectures
- Management issues of wireless information systems
- Mobile commerce
Format of the Workshop
The workshop will consist of oral presentations. The proceedings of the
workshop will be published in the form of a book by ICEIS.
Submission of Papers
Perspective authors are invited to submit papers in any of the areas
listed above. All papers must be written in English, and the length of the
paper should not exceed 4000 words or 8 pages. Instructions for preparing
the manuscript (in Word or Latex) are available at the ICEIS web site.
Papers (preferably in Word, PS, or PDF) should be sent via email to the
workshop chair (qmahmoud@cs.sfu.ca).
Important Dates
Full paper submission: December 21, 2001
Author notification: January 15, 2002
Camera-ready: January 25, 2002
Workshop: April 2-3, 2002

Conference Location
The workshop will be held at the Escola Superior de Informática of the
