Scope and Topics
Ontologies are formal, explicit specifications of shared conceptualizations, representing concepts and their relations that are relevant for a given domain of discourse and serve as a means for establishing a conceptually concise basis for communicating knowledge for many purposes. There is a huge interest in the area of engineering ontologies for a very wide range of interesting applications and, in fact, the community in that field is steadily growing. Also in recent years, we have seen a surge of interest in other fields than ontology engineering that tackle the discovery and automatic creation of complex, multirelational knowledge structures. The expected central role of ontologies in the organization and functioning of the Semantic Web has been well documented in recent years and ontology is playing a central role fields as E-Business, E-Commerce, E-Learning, E-Health.. Somewhat less traditional is the role of ontologies in incremental approaches to Knowledge Discovery, in which ontologies and machine learning methods are used in combination to mine, interpret and (re-)organize knowledge. Currently, ontologies are mostly developed (including ontology construction, extension, mapping and merging) as well as used (ontology population through knowledge markup) by a manual process, which is very ineffective and may cause major barriers to their large-scale use in such areas as Knowledge Discovery and Semantic Web and in the introduction of new and effective services. This workshop aims to bring together researchers interested in the field of ontology engineering in order to discuss and analyze important characteristics, open research issues and recent research developments on the field. We encourage submissions on all topics related to ontology engineering, including theoretical work on the issues involved directly or indirectly with change as well as applications or implemented systems related to such issues.

Paper Submission
Prospective authors are invited to submit papers in any of the topics listed above. Three main categories of submissions will be considered: regular papers, work in progress by Ph.D. students and tool demonstrations. Please indicate clearly the category your paper is submitted to.
Instructions for preparing the manuscript (in Word and Latex formats) are available at the conference Paper Templates web page. Please also check the web page with the Submission Guidelines.
Papers should be submitted electronically via the web-based submission system at: http://www.insticc.org/Primoris
In addition, an email must be sent to all workshop chairs including: title and an abstract of the submitted paper, three keywords from the list of interesting areas given above, category and authors' affiliation. Submissions not complying with the formatting guidelines will not be evaluated.

Publications and Format
The workshop will consist of oral presentations of peer-reviewed papers and invited keynote speeches. All accepted papers will be published in the workshop proceedings book, under an ISBN reference, and in CD-ROM support.

Registration Information
At least one author of an accepted paper must register for the workshop. If the registration fees are not received by March 17, 2009 the paper will not be published in the workshop proceedings book.
