KECHENG LIU

Dr. Kecheng Liu, Fellow of British Computer Society, is Full Professor and holds a chair of computing science. He has published eighty papers in conferences and journals, such as International Journal of Information Management, Journal of Behaviour and Information Technology, The Computer Journal and Journal of Object-Oriented Programming. His research interests span from requirements studies, systems analysis and design, object methods for systems engineering, normative modelling of software agents, to HCI and CSCW. He is the founder of a postgraduate research award of Information Systems with Semiotics, and founding Director of Staffordshire University's Research Centre for E-Business Systems.

His research monograph on Semiotics in Information Systems Engineering (2000 Cambridge University Press), is a first treating the topic in a systematic manner. He has edited two books on Organisational Semiotics (2000 Kluwer, and to appear in 2001). He was Programme Chair of 2nd and 3rd International Workshops of Organisational Semiotics (1999 and 2000), and will chair the Programme Committee for the IFIP WG8.1 Working Conference in Montreal (Canada) 2001 on "Organisational Semiotics: Evolving a science of information". Prof. Liu has served in a number of conference committees (e.g. PC member of BWIT'97, CoopIS'99, ICEIS1999, ICEIS2000). He is Visiting Professor at Foshan University and Southeast University in China and has been invited to deliver lectures in information systems and semiotics in China, Australia, Holland, Czech, Hong Kong and Portugal
