Brief Bio
Miroslav Hudec is an associate professor at the VSB - Technical University of Ostrava and at the University of Economics in Bratislava. He received the Master degree in information sciences and PhD degrees in operations research from the University of Belgrade, where he was recently got a position of visiting professor. His work is mainly focused on fuzzy logic, knowledge discovery, aggregation functions and business intelligence. He is a member of program committees of several international conferences and serves as an editorial board member in several journals.

SCOPE
The purpose of the multidisciplinary ICEIS conference is to bring together academic researchers and practitioners who are engaged in bringing advances of information systems. The proposed session meet this mission in fields of fuzzy querying and classification. Although very significant work has been done, there are still problems which faces practical realisations. These fields are based on fuzzy sets i.e. results critically depend on our ability to construct membership functions for linguistic terms and quantifiers. Therefore, applicability of fuzzy logic in real applications is a difficult task; because we have to merge user opinions about linguistic terms and quantifiers and current content in database.
Sophisticated queries include priorities, linguistic summaries (non-standard aggregation scheme) and non commutative aggregation among others. In all these fields dynamically creating fuzzy sets and choice of appropriate aggregation operators are relevant also from computational burden and time consuming of application perspective. Classification by query-classification approaches meet similar issues as querying (linguistic terms and aggregation functions).
If users have to define parameters of fuzzy sets in applications it could be treated in some sense as a partially flexible querying which makes use of standalone applications and website even more complicated. Design of appropriate and easy to use interfaces is also significant element of successfully accepted applications by users. Papers focused on solving real problems, on real data, by an effective way are especially welcome.
Discussing issues, results, perspectives and aspects of applicability, especially how to merge theoretical results and user needs, is what this special session is about.
